My unit is billed for far more water than we use. What is going on?

On a communal borehole scheme this is usually a metering fault or a leak on your spur rather than genuine consumption. We isolate the unit and watch the meter: if it moves with everything closed, the leak is between the meter and your unit.

Is my plumbing still under the developer's warranty?

Plumbing on the Kiambu Road corridor

The Kiambu Road corridor is Nairobi’s newest housing at scale: gated schemes, townhouse developments and apartment phases built largely in the last fifteen years. The plumbing is modern, which changes the work substantially: fewer failed pipes, more system and metering problems.

Communal boreholes and individual meters

Most schemes here run a shared borehole with metering to each unit. It works well until the metering goes wrong, and when it does the resident experiences it as a billing dispute rather than a plumbing fault.
