When you need someone now
A burst pipe behind a wall does more damage in an hour than the repair costs. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we tell you two things on that first call: roughly when we will arrive, and what the callout costs. No quotation is given over the phone for work we have not seen, but you will never be surprised by the callout fee.
What we treat as an emergency
- A burst or leaking pipe you cannot isolate
- Water coming through a ceiling or down a wall
- Total loss of water when the tank is full, usually a failed pump or a collapsed suction line
- A blocked main line backing up into the house
- A cistern or tank overflowing continuously
- Hot water failure where the element or the solar circuit has flooded
The first thing to do before we arrive
Find your isolation valve and close it. On most Nairobi properties it sits at the tank outlet or just after the meter. If you are on a borehole, switch the pump off at the changeover, not just at the wall socket. If water is near a distribution board, switch off at the mains and do not touch the board. We will talk you through it on the phone.
What the callout covers
The callout brings a licensed plumber, a stocked van and diagnosis. If you go ahead with the repair, the callout is deducted from the invoice. If you decide not to, you pay the callout and you keep the written diagnosis: you are free to take it to anyone.
After hours
Nights, Sundays and public holidays carry a higher callout. We state it before we set off, not when we arrive. That single practice is the most common complaint Kenyan homeowners have about emergency trades, and it is the easiest one to fix.
