Most hidden leaks in Nairobi homes are found by a water bill, not by water. A steady rise with no change in usage, a pump that cycles when every tap is closed, or a patch of wall that stays damp through the dry season. Those are the three things worth calling about.

How we find it

We isolate the system section by section and watch the meter, which costs nothing and finds most leaks. Where that narrows it to a wall or a slab, we use acoustic detection and thermal reading before anything is opened. Cutting a chase across a finished wall to look for a pipe is a last resort, and we will always tell you before we do it.

Where they usually are

• Concealed copper or PPR under a screed, often at a bend rather than a joint
• The rising main between the tank and the house, buried under a lawn or a driveway
• Solar water heater flow and return lines running through a roof void
• Gate valves and stop taps that weep slowly for years into masonry
• The compression fitting on a pump inlet, which lets air in and water out

Repair, not patch

Once found, we replace the failed section rather than clamping it. A clamped joint under a slab will fail again, and the second failure costs more because it has been soaking the structure in the meantime. We reinstate the screed and make good, and we photograph the repair before it is covered so you have a record of where the pipe actually runs.
