Plumbing questions we are asked most

If your question is not here, call or WhatsApp us: we would rather answer it than have you guess. See also our rates and borehole drilling cost.

How quickly can you get to me?
We answer 24 hours a day and aim to be at your gate within 90 minutes across central Nairobi. Gated estates in Karen, Runda and Gigiri need clearance which adds time, and diplomatic properties in Gigiri may need vetting arranged in advance.
What does a callout cost?
KES 2,000 in business hours, deducted from the invoice if you go ahead. Nights, Sundays and public holidays are higher, and we tell you the figure on the phone before we set off rather than when we arrive.
Why will you not quote over the phone?
A price given without seeing the fault is a guess, and guesses get revised upwards on site. We always tell you the callout on the phone; the repair price comes in writing once we have seen it, before any work starts.
How do you take payment?
M-Pesa against a receipt for each stage, or bank transfer. Larger jobs run on a staged schedule tied to milestones. We do not ask for a large deposit before materials are on site. That practice is why so many Kenyan homeowners have been burned.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, and you get the paperwork before we start. NCA registration and cover for public liability and workmen's compensation are sent in writing with your quotation, so you can verify both before anyone sets foot on your property. Borehole work is done under the appropriate WRA permit and NEMA licence.
Do I need a permit for a borehole?
Yes: a WRA permit and a NEMA licence, both before drilling begins. We will not put a rig on site without them. Full detail on the borehole drilling cost page.
What warranty do I get?
Workmanship is warranted in writing, with the period stated on your quotation. Materials carry their manufacturer warranty, and we itemise what was used so a claim is straightforward.
Do you work on apartment blocks and commercial buildings?
Yes. Plant rooms, risers and shared storage in Westlands, Kilimani and Upper Hill are a large part of our work. For anything on shared pipework we need the caretaker or management company to authorise access.
Can you fix a drain that keeps blocking?
Usually, but the fix is rarely more rodding. A drain that blocks repeatedly has a fall problem, root ingress or a collapsed section. We camera the run, show you the footage, and correct the cause.
Which areas do you cover?
Across Nairobi and the satellite towns: from Westlands, Karen and Runda to Syokimau, Rongai and the Thika Road corridor. Each area page sets out what is actually different about working there.
Do you install fittings I have bought myself?
Yes. We will also tell you honestly if a fitting is likely to fail, and put that in writing, so there is no argument later about who chose what.
What should I do while waiting for you?
Close the isolation valve, usually at the tank outlet or after the meter. On a borehole, switch the pump off at the changeover. If water is near a distribution board, switch off at the mains and stay away from it.
