Blocked Drain Clearing in Nairobi: Sinks, Showers, Toilets and Main Lines

from KES 3,000

Blockages are a symptom, not the problem

Clearing a blockage takes twenty minutes. Working out why it blocked takes longer and matters more: a drain that blocks twice in a year has a fall problem, a root problem or a collapsed section, and rodding it repeatedly is money spent on the symptom.

What we clear

  • Kitchen sinks and gully traps thick with fat
  • Shower and bath wastes clogged with hair and soap
  • Toilets and soil stacks
  • Main runs from the house to the septic tank, biodigester or sewer connection
  • Yard gullies and inspection chambers that flood in the rains

How we do it

We start with rodding, which resolves most household blockages. Where rodding will not hold, we jet the line, high-pressure water that strips the pipe wall rather than punching a hole through the blockage. For anything that has blocked more than once we run a camera and give you the footage, so you are deciding on evidence rather than on our word.

The Nairobi-specific causes

Fat is the first. Most Nairobi kitchens have no grease trap and cooking fat congeals in the gully within a couple of years. The second is root ingress, jacaranda and ficus roots find clay-jointed lines and old 110mm PVC with poorly solvent-welded joints. The third is builders’ debris left in the line from the original construction, which shows up as a drain that has never run properly since the house was built.

When a blockage means something worse

If your drains gurgle when the toilet flushes, or the lowest gully floods before the sink does, the problem is downstream: a full septic tank, a soakaway that has stopped percolating, or a sewer connection that was never made. We will tell you that rather than sell you a rodding.
